DISCOVER THE HIDDEN GEMS OF MEXICO!

A Western Pacific Coastal beach destination with both the charm of a traditional Mexican fishing village and the elegant atmosphere of a gorgeous resort town. Located on the "Costa Grande" this tropical beach paradise will be sure to captivate your heart & keep you coming back year after year.

Ixtapa - Like No Other Place on Earth

Known for its friendly atmosphere, spectacular beaches, fresh-daily seafood, and healthy community of both ex-pats and locals alike... it is no wonder Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is one of the most popular destinations for a weekend get-a-way or a long-term stay.

Ixtapa was created as a 'resort-town' by Fanatourin in the 1980s and is, therefore, a meticulously manicured and safe community for ex-pats and local tourists.  Ixtapa, mixed together with the neighbouring hustle and bustle of Zihuatanejo creates an atmosphere unlike any other place in all of Mexico. In fact, we are willing to bet it is the most unique, friendly, affordable and safest place you will find in the entire world for that matter
. Come and immerse yourself in the wonder and beauty that makes  up this richly diverse resort town!

Safety in Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is an area frequented by tourists, and therefore, it’s relatively safe. But it’s in the Mexican state of Guerrero, which has a reputation for having more crime and violence than other states. According to the U.S. State Department, United States government employees are prohibited from travelling to the state of Guerrero, including Acapulco.

But ordinary tourists can still come to Ixtapa and stay in the touristy area.
The biggest concern travellers have to face in Ixtapa is potentially being a target of a robbery, which is, unfortunately, common in many tourist destinations around the world. To maintain your safety, don’t wear expensive jewellery or other valuable items that may draw attention to you.

What Ixtapa Has to See & Do

Between Ixtapa and its neighbouring Zihuatanejo... you will find an unusual mix of a typical coastal Mexican fisherman town (Zihua) split with a high-end resort town (Ixtapa). Ixtapa is adorned with several hotel zones and many rental properties a large huge market filled with everything from souvenirs. The Mercado Central (Central Market)  in Zihua has a ton of both imported produce and locally, organically grown GMO-free foods as well as all of your daily necessities.

Ixtapa also offers 2 world-class golf courses, a pro-pickleball court, whale-dolphin watching tours, several soft sandy beaches, an adventure/adrenaline zipline park, cycling, hiking and eco-tours, and baby turtle releases. surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving like none other, a crocodile sanctuary where you can up and close with the crocs in their natural environment and like that wasn't enough, we have a ton more things to do and see!

Getting Here...

To get to Ixtapa, you can fly to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Airport, though it’s not always easy to find direct flights from the United States. However, several airlines make direct flights, including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and United Airlines. Otherwise, you can fly directly into Mexico City and then take another flight on a domestic airline such as Volaris or Aeromexico. Or... after flying into Mexico City, you can always rent a car or like we did when we arrived, hire a driver so you can sit back and enjoy the scenery as you drive to Ixtapa. The journey takes about 8-9 hours from Mexico City.
